Loggerbirds back

Gorgeous sunny days on Robben Island lately.  This morning the logger deployed earlier this week, on Thursday, was retrieved. The loggerbird was back in its nest with its two small downy grey chicks.
Here is a Google Earth map of the foraging track of where this bird was at sea foraging yesterday, north east of Robben Island.

All the loggerbirds are back now. Time to search for more suitable nests and monitor the parental care of  those with small chicks. The next EarthWatch team arrives on the island tomorrow and will assist with the nest monitoring in the penguin colony.
