It rained steadily most of the day on the island preventing logger deployments and delaying the nest monitoring until the afternoon. On the bright side, it allowed for some time to be spent catching up on data entry, inside tasks and mapping the GPS data of penguin foraging trips. The yellow track in the Google Earth map below shows where an African Penguin with two small chicks spent last Sunday at sea. 
 Here is a photo of the penguin that made that trip brooding its chicks. Can you spot one of them? Look closely, a fluffy grey head is just visible and well camouflaged with the base of the gum tree next to the nest.
